SVMI project presented during 12th German Senior Day in Dortmund

The 12th German Senior Day was opened by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. In his speech, he expressed thanks and appreciation to the many senior citizens who work for others. The elders form "the backbone of the Volunteers ". Following the speech of the Federal President Steinmeier Franziska Giffey, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Karl-Josef Laumann, Minister for work, health and social affairs of the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen and Ullrich Sierau, Mayor of the city of Dortmund, addressed their greetings to the visitors.

From May 28th-30th, the 12th German Senior Day took place in Dortmund. Under the motto "building bridges", the event provided answers to questions about aging with more than 200 lectures and activities as well as numerous trade fair stands. Solutions for everyday challenges were presented and ways were shown how an active and healthy age is possible.

Civic engagement, health, education and new media, living an active life in old age, care and much more: The visitors were invited to participate in the discussion.

The ifa Academy representatives were at the fair to present EU project "Senior volunteers for migrant integration" to the participants of the event. A total of 5.000 visitors participated. They were able to distribute flyers, posters, present SVMI as laptop show and managed to have 45 individual contacts and notes of interest.
